Hofner 458 model 1958
Built between 1958-59 with very high quality African sapele wood. This is what makes it different as the rest of Hofner's archtops are predominantly maple. This model has a thinner body and a thicker and deeper sound than other models. Rosewood fingerboard and 64.5 cm scale. It has a sweeter sound than maple ...
It is the "deluxe" version of the 456 model, which in turn is the "deluxe" version of the 455 model.
It has a 64.5 cm scale with a rosewood fingerboard. The frets were replaced and the fingerboard leveled, then re-fretted with the original jumbo (nickel silver) frets.
It is very comfortable to play and allows a very fine adjustment, below 1.5 mm for the first on the 12th fret. It can even be adjusted to 1 mm, although in that case, tastes are more personal.
A "Kent Armontrong" mini-hummbucker magnetic pickup with Alnico magnets is installed.
The installation is made through the inside of the guitar and ends in a jack socket at the end of the body, which is placed in the place of the strap pin. Very good sound without hums or noise.
The guitar has been meticulously revised, adjusted, octave, etc ... And it is ready to play and enjoy!
All the pieces are original except the pickguard which is an exact replica. It has many signs of use, normal for its age, but it is in very good condition and with a magnificent sound!
