Parlor Hofner 520 model 1960.
The first model that Hofner built with these characteristics. It is the size of a parlor guitar (slightly smaller than the 522 but wider at the sides.
Spruce top, maple back and sides, rosewood fingerboard.
It was not produced in large quantities and the period was from 1952 to 1968.
It has a 62 cm scale and an extraordinary sound. It is a difficult model to find.
The frets have been reconditioned and allow a good fit, being very comfortable to play.
The neck is straight and stable, all parts are original except one tuning pin that has been replaced.
The varnish is the original, although it is quite cracked. It also has superficial scratches, but it is in a very good general condition, and perfectly functional
In the Hofner catalog they describe it like this:
"A small Viennese style guitar, made with a spruce top and maple back sides.
The guitar received a highly polished red finish. A white celluloid pickguard was fitted and since a metal tailpiece was used, the guitar was supposed to be made for steel strings ... "
